Some editors have a footer: a strip at the bottom of the area, like the header at the top. The footer holds tools or information that belong to the editor, for example the playback controls of the Timeline or the tool settings of some editors.

Right-click an empty part of the header or footer and use Show Footer to turn it on or off. The setting is saved per area, so the same editor can show a footer in one workspace and hide it in another.

The Status Bar

The Status Bar is the footer of the whole window. It shows the mouse and keyboard hints for the current tool on the left, running jobs and messages in the middle, and scene statistics and the version on the right. Right-click it to choose what it shows. The Status Bar is explained in the chapter Topbar and Statusbar.
