Floating Dialogues
Small windows that ask for settings or a confirmation before an operation runs.
Some operations open a floating dialogue before they run: a small window with settings to fill in or a question to confirm, for example renaming an item (F2), deleting data, or saving over a file.
Using a dialogue
- Change the settings, then click OK or press Enter to run the operation.
- Move the mouse away from the dialogue, or press Esc, to cancel.
- Confirmation dialogues name the operation on their button, so you can see what will happen before you click.
Popovers
Popovers are related: they open from a header button with a small arrow, such as the shading, overlay or snapping settings in the 3D Viewport, and stay open while you change their settings. Move the mouse away to close them.
